For the body Health and physical education continued to be popular among students even after they finished their required courses. Herb Chambers was able to return after originally being cut due to seniority. The courses that were always in demand were the conditioning classes os well as the aerobics course. Special education Staffed by twenty certified teachers, Roosevelt's special education department had the largest faculty at Roosevelt. Eleven of the teachers worked with the Level IV program, sometimes called the Emerson program because of its affiliation with Emerson School. The rest of the teochers either worked directly with special ed. students or tracked their progress as they were mainstreamed into regular dosses. The ultimate goal was to provide as normal an education os possible for all students with special needs. In oddition to its regular staff, special ed. enlisted the support of poraprofessionols.
