The members of the orchestra are often called on as soloists for area functions. Stage band, composed of 19 selected musicians, meet the second and third trimesters. They play pop and ja music. The concert schedule for the bands included ihe Roosevelt Area Festival in November with bands from Howell. Nokomis. and Sanford Junior High Schools, the Pops Concert in April, a joint concert with the choir in May and a trip to Brookings. South Dakota to play a concert for the high school student body. Concerts were also given in the area junior highs. This year's Pop Concert w-as given on April 10 and presented music from “The Music Man . Mike Kittleson was featured as Professor Harold Hill.

The most exciting event in the history of the Roosevelt Band occurred this past summer when the band (lew to the International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria where they participated with musicians from other countries in a festival of band music. The band was awarded a trophy for excellence. The trip also included sightseeing and concerts in Munich and Berlin, West Germany as well as Austria. Nearly a year of preparation and fund-raising went into the trip. The band parents and students worked very hard to raise the S52.000 necessary to make the trip. Pictured below is the Roosevelt Band at the opening xercises at the Rathaus Square, in Vienna Austria. 30
