Minnesota Orchestra “Adopts” R.H.S. The Minnesota Orchestra adopted Roosevelt School as its home school” this year. Members of the orchestra brought their music to our classrooms in a variety of ways in order to familiarize students with the role of professional musicians. This project was valued at around $13,000 which was funded by the Urban Arts program and by the Minnesota Orchestra at no cost to Roosevelt. In October the orchestra presented a concert for the entire student body. During the year, individuals and ensembles from the orchestra performed in various classes such as. Journalism. Art. English and Social Studies. They have assisted in the music department with lecture demonstrations and by playing original compositions in the music theory class. Mr. Henry Charles Smith. Associate Conductor, has been the leading figure in the program within the school and has lectured in many classes on music.
