FOREWCDRD Two Thousand Tour hundred busy sTu- denTs and over one hundred TaculTy members were The principal characTers in The Three lives of Theodore RoosevelT High School during The scholasTic year of l962-63. They Tilled The classrooms wiTh knowledge, The halls wiTh school spiriT, The exTra-curricular acTiviTies wiTh ioy and fun. ScholasTic life, during The year, en- compassed a greaT many Things. The TaculTy presenTed sTudenTs wiTh an opporTuniTy To learn many basic skills, ranging Trom pre- college courses, To Those primarily inTeresTed in Training for TuTure iobs. AcceleraTed and enriched courses were available To sTudenTs so They mighT TurTher develop Their skills and inTeresTs. Social life aT RoosevelT helped To de- velop group parTicipaTion, leadership qual- iTies, an appreciaTion of our culTure, physical discipline, and promoTed fellowship among The individuals parTicipaTing. Loyal Teddy fans rushed To TooTball fields, gymnasiums, The ice arena, and The oTher locaTions where They were able To show Their appreciaTion of The long hours of pracTice spenT by The varied Teams and coaches. Enioyable hours were also spenT in many exTra-curricular acTiviTies. STudenTs came To know each oTher and The TaculTy much beTTer while doing worThwhile proiecTs, pursuing common inTeresTs and recreaTion. SporTs, class parTies, club dances, The Sno- Ball, and The Proms all added To The RoosevelT sTudenTs' in The Social Life. STudenT life included some 2400 pu- pils, 928 of Them comprising The largesT soph- omore class ever aT Roosevelt Each class, Through Their execuTive boards, decided upon Things concerned wiTh Their individual class, while The sTudenT council made decisions deal- ing wiTh The welTare of The sTudenT body. The ScholasTic, Social, and STudenT lives of RoosevelT High were individually im- porTanT, yeT were inTer1wined To make The sTu- denT's life more compleTe and enioyable.
