TEDS GAIN KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY Cheese! says history chairman J. Heller while lecturing a class in the library. l M. Skaurud ponders the eternal question, should he give student a B or a C ? ., li W. Benson chuckles at a comment on the Cuban situation. What's the latest on the Cuban Crisis? asked a senior in World Affairs class. All year long, students ot history asked many questions, ranging from when the Industrial Revolution started to why Khrushchev acts like he does. Three years ot history are required ot all stu- dents. ln the sophomore year, the entire history ot civilization is studied, and early American History is begun. ln the junior year, our country's history trom the Civil War up to the present time is studied, and seniors have a choice between World Attairs, Econom- ics, Sociology, and Geography. One semester ot Ameri- can Government is also required. The aims ot the History Department, as summed up by chairman J. Heller, are to make the student aware ot his country's position in the world, ot the effect past history will have on the tuture, and ot the tremendous impact science has had on world events.
