Latin To promote interest among members, interest in Latin, and the genera! welfare of the school is the purpose of the Latin Club. After school on the second Wednesday of every month, one may find the club in session in the auditorium planning the next activity for the members. The majority of those present are currently enrolled in a Latin course, while some may have finished their course, but are still students at Roosevelt. While the official club pin may be purchased by any member, the medal and trophy are awarded to only a select pair. The trophy is awarded to one student on the basis of scholarship and service; whereas the medal is awarded on the basis of service. Bottom Row: Mrs. Ellis adviser; Trolander. Carolyn Hathaway. French Club One of the largest clubs at Roosevelt is the newly formed French Club. It is affiliated with the Latin Club. Under the supervision of Mr. Swadner. it was started two years ago in September of 1956. Any student who is a member of the French class or who has completed the French course may join the Society of Frenchmen. The second Wednesday of every month will find the combined Latin and French Club meeting in the auditorium. At this meeting plans are usually made for the month's social event. The club has sponsored a wiener roast, hayride. club dance, and a car-wash to finance the annual banquet.
