Blue Tri Blue Tri is an organization open to any senior girl who wishes to join. As members the girls' aims are to be better friends, better citizens, to help those in need, and have loyalty towards their school. The club consists of four chapters. Each individual chapter meets in the evening at one of the girls' homes, usually once every other week. The regular meetings with all the individual chapters are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The Blue Tri is the high school branch of the y.W.C.A. The organization was first organized in England in 1855. It was such a great success in England that the organization spread to New York in 1858. The first event of the Blue Tri this year was a Recognition Dinner held in the downtown building of the Y.W.C.A. The banquet was very impressive to all who attended. The Sock Hop was another of the school socials put on by the Blue Tri girls. At the dance a contest was held for the girl and boy wearing the cutest pair of socks. The girls carry on good will projects as well as their social events. The Cambridge project this year collected magazines, toys, and Pl«y hockey w,th brooms much? puzzles from the students at Roosevelt. These gifts were to be used by the children at the Cambridge Hospital. A trip to the hospital was also taken by the Blue Tri girls. On Winter Sports Day, Blue Tri challenged Silver Tri to a hockey game. The girls were dressed in the boys’ hockey uniforms. Board of Governors The Board of Governors is a group of students made up of study hall chairmen and secretaries. They play an important part in the study hall. The students help to keep order in the study halls and check the attendance. Dick Lane and Bill Rauhauser were appointed to assist Mr. Courtney, who is the adviser of the organization. The Council Office is part of the Board of Governors. You will always find students on hand every hour of the day in the Student Council Office. Johnson. the girls used a basketball and brooms. The Blue Tri girls won by a close margin over the Silver Tri girls. The Blue Tri organization also sponsored a banquet in the spring. This is always an important event for the girls. The Blue Tri organization participates in the International Fair at the Y.W.C.A. building downtown. This year both Silver Tri and Blue Tri girls from Roosevelt were repre- sented at the fair. The girls entered a turtle in the turtle race; however, their entry did not win. The organization has a pin which is an inverted triangle. It symbolizes that the girl is a member of Blue Tri and also a member of the y.W.C.A. Blue Tri is under the advisership of Miss Haberman.
