Subjects in this department consist of sketching, painting, woodcarving and enameling. Vocal music includes: A Cappella Choir, Swing Choir, Girls' Choir and Choristers: Instrumental music: Band, Orchestra, Swing Band and Applied Music. Students interested in this department will find it enjoyable and cultural. Business courses are necessary for those students interested in entering the business field after graduation. Roosevelt offers a fine business program. The subjects included are: Typing, Shorthand, Bookkeeping, Secretarial Practice, Office Training, Basic Business, etc. Many students taking this course are on the work program which is designed to give work experience and training on the job. Roosevelt is fortunate in having a fine science department with capable teachers. Many students before entering high school feel they are not interested in science, however, after entering Roosevelt and becoming acquainted with the different choices of science their previous attitudes are changed. The courses offered are: Biology, the study of plant and animal life: Physiology, function of the human body: Physics, the law of nature: Chemistry, the science of materials and their compositions. Students plannins to enter college need science in their academic course.
