The Future Homemalrers ot America, un- der the capable leadership ot Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Hunt, advisers, was organized in l95l. Their pin, octagonal in shape, bears the name ot the organization around the top. Across the bottom is their motto, Toward New Horizons. Their emblem, a home sup- ported by two hands which signities that the tuture homes ot America rest in the hands ot its youth, is in the center ot the pin. The qualitication tor membership in this club is that a girl must have had one semes- ter ot home economics. Each year a state meeting is held at the Radisson Hotel. There are l58 E. H.A. Chap- ters in the state with a total membership ot 639l. Four girls trom each chapter are sent to the state meeting. Senior Honor Society The Senior l-lonor Society is an organiza- tion whose members are selected tor out- standing character. All members must main- tain a 2.3 average or better during their three years at Roosevelt. The club was organized in l926 and is attiliated with the National Senior l-lonor Society. Each member is in- ducted into the organization at a beautiful candle light ceremony which is held in Qc- tober. l-le talces a pledge to uphold the vir- tues ot scholarship, leadership, character, and service and receives a pin which sym- bolizes these lour points. One ot the annual activities is the sale ot homecoming buttons. The members all agree that the trip to Washington, D. The club, which is open to all girls in the tenth and eleventh grades. has a membership ot three-hundred girls. The Silver Tri is a part ot the whole Y organiza- tion and is sponsored by the Y.W.C.A. The club meets twice monthly with a third meet- ing tor the cabinet members. Much ot the success ot the club is due to the excellent planning ot the meetings by the cabinet. The cabinet is composed ot tour elected ot- ticers and two advisers who this year are Miss Janice Ericlrson trom the Y,W.C.A. and Miss Stevenson. Besides the president, a vice-president, secretary, and ICC member are elected.
