Home and Family Class Discussions The course in Home and Family Living is ot' tered as an elective in the tweltth grade. Stu- dents discuss problems related to themselves and to other teenagers so that they may know how to act in later lite. Many ot these situations are shown to the pupils in movies. Later in class the pupils dis- cuss these movies and decide what was right. and what was wrong. and what might have been done or said to have smoothed over the situation, The course at Roosevelt is taught by Miss Comley. D O i -sq Decoration Committees Originality has been the aim ot this years Dance Decoration Committee. Selected by the Student Council, this committee has served throughout the year. For the Football Dance they used maroon and gold decorations. Snow' men were the center ot attraction at the anf nual Winter Carnival Dance. The Spring Party produced a very original decoration scheme, which was lcept a secret until the time ot the dance. Foreign Languages Latin, German, Norse, Swedish, and Spanish are the tive ditterent languages otfered at Roosevelt. Languages are ot- tered to improve a studentls use ot Eng- lish and to give him a knowledge ot clas- sical allusions tound in literature and modern lite. Other toreign languages are taught it there is a sutticient enrollment. The pupil is expected to complete tour semesters ot study to receive credit. Mrs. Gerard. Home Economics Home Economics courses are open to both boys and girls. The course in toods emphasizes home management, the plan- ning ot meals, and the proportion ot toods. The course in sewing teaches a girl to design and to malce her own clothes. Home and Family Living is an- other course taught in this department. Right-Miss Comley, Mrs. Gossell, Miss Milsten, and Miss Kramer loolc over the new bowls tor the Home Economics de- partment. Home and Family Living Parties The Home and Family Living classes plan and put on ditterent social tunctions to iearn how to conduct themselves, This picture shows a class giving a tea. The students be- come conscious ot table manners, personal conduct, and the treatment ot guests. Later the class discusses the party and makes note ot what they did right and what they did wrong.
