Physical Education Physical Education is necessary to develop a strong body. The courses tor the boys are naturally more strenuous than tor the girls. Boys develop slcill and muscular control through vigorous activities which include calisthenics, apparatus worlc, and marching. ln the tall they try out tor the tootball squad. This sport gives them a very rough program. Through the winter there is baslcetball which leaves everybody holding his breath. in the spring comes the ever popular baseball. There are numerous other sports also which the boys enjoy. The girls too have a chance to play tootball, basketball, and baseball. They have an individual sports class which teaches tennis. golt, and badminton. There is also a modern dance class which teaches the girls poise and grace. There is, in addition, a co-recreational class. Tl'-L' 'itth period Ccerccrigationai :ass starts out the period wth a raw soua'c. Stu- dents discuss problems related to themselves and to other teenagers so that they may know how to act in later lite. Many ot these situations are shown to the pupils in movies. Later in class the pupils dis- cuss these movies and decide what was right. and what was wrong. and what might have been done or said to have smoothed over the situation, The course at Roosevelt is taught by Miss Comley.
