Knight Reporters The Roosevelt Standard, which is published on Thursday, presents a resume ot the week's news to aII students. The new motto adopted by the statt is It the Standard doesn't come out, it isn't Thursday. Roosevelt students should be proud ot their weekly publication as the Standard has won the AII-American rating many times and has also won honors in the International Quill and Scroll. To become a member ot the statf. a student must complete News I and show an ability to write news articles. The statt meets each day the fourth period in room 325. It you happen to go by room 325 on Tuesday, you may won- der whether a complete issue ot the Standard will really come out Thursday morning. Wednes- day is Standard Day down at the printers. That is the day when page editors help set up type tor their respective pages. The Sagamore extends its sympathies to Mr. Nielsen. The statt is looking forward to the day when their sons and daughters will serve as the backbone ot the Standard. Their Mojesfies We. the Sagamore statt ot I949, have en- joyed preparing your annual. and we sincerely wish that it will capture the approval ot you, the students and the taculty. 'This year we present as our theme, ln the Days of the Knights. We hope that you will allow the Knights ot Roosevelt Castle to talce you on a journey through the past year ot activities and that it will bring back memories that you want to cher- ish--homecoming and the tootball games: the Winter Carnival and the class banquets: the clubs and even the classrooms where we all worlced so hard remembering chemistry tormu- las, memorizing historical dates, and learning theorems tor geometry. During the past nine years the Sagamore has received an All-American award eight times. We are proud ot this record as the All-Ameri- can is the highest rating given to yearboolcs by the National Scholastic Press Association. The students on the Sagamore statf have been chosen by Mr. Wagner. Last tall the statt consisted ot twelve seniors, and in January it 'was supplemented by six juniors who will be the foundation tor the I95O statt. This club was founded in I9-47 by combining the Qui Vive and the Pilots Clubs. Each semester ten boys and ten girls are received into the club. Any l lA student with a C average or better is eligible tor mem- bership. It is the custom that ot these new Guarding Our Doors Palmquist, A. This year new mem- bers underwent the usual initiations and could be distinguished by a small maroon and gold ribbon as they bowed to senior members. They all agreed later that it was worth all the sutlering and torture they went through. The Quo Vadis Club holds its meetings every other Wednesday morning at eight o'clock A.M. Their slogan is: Cooperation, Service, Loyalty, and Friendship. Each one ot these aims is a worthy goal tor all the members of the club. The primary purpose ot the club is to serve as ushers at all school events not already spon- sored by some other club. Some ot these events are the class play and choir concerts. The club's advisers who deserve a great deal ot credit tor the club's success are Miss Bjorklund and Mr. Vogtsberger.
