Swedes Hire Bosses af Ins allaflbn The Swedish Club was organized to create an interest in the Swedish language and culture, and to acquaint students with one another. Mrs. Starlc founded this organization in l929, and was its adviser until a tew years ago when Ivlr. Yngve toolc her place. Wiener roasts, initiation parties, and the annual joint Swede-Norse Christmas party were among the popular features on the list ot the club's entertainments. Probably the most important event ot the season was the annual banquet tor the graduating seniors. Any student, who wants to participate in the activities ot the club, may become a member. At the meetings ot le Cercle Francais, held once a month, speakers who have vis- ited France help to tamiliarize members with the French people, with their customs, with their art, and with the scenic beauties ot France. Social tunctions included a spring out- ing, and a French play at the University. The chiet accomplishments ot le Cercle Francais this year were the securing ot a special black and gold tleur-de-lis pin which RC. F. members could purchase and establishing a French trophy to be awarded to an outstanding French student each year. This year the banquet which the l-li-Y gave tor the l939 Teddy Football squad was lauded by the guests as the best ever. Membership is open to any boy in school who subscribes to the purpose and is willing to forward the aims ot the club. Mr. Weum is the tacultyadviser, and Lyndy Cederblade is the Y. M. CA. Secretary.
