Stamps Aid Members in Rambles The Stamp Club, organized in V935 by Mr. Ziering, otters some very interesting tea- tures. Any person who is interested in stamps and is a stamp collector is eligible tor mem- bership. At the meetings, which are held every Tuesday, a short report on some phase ot stamp collecting is given and the members are also given the opportunity to ask ques- tions. The students earn points by attending each meeting, giving reports, bringing in their collections, and answering questions. At the end ot each semester an auction is held and the stamps tor this are bought with the club dues. Al- though tew people notice stamps very closely, many historical events have been portrayed on them in the past years. Social activities tor the year have been a l-lalloween Party, a Christmas party, and a roller slcating party. Mr. Ulrich, who is well known tor his demonstration ot liquid air, is the present adviser. lt is composed ot students searching tor new knowl- edge in scientitic tields. Since IQ37 a science trophy has been awarded to the student whose work has been outstand- ing in two sciences. This year Myra l-lanson was chosen to re- ceive the award. At the meetings ot le Cercle Francais, held once a month, speakers who have vis- ited France help to tamiliarize members with the French people, with their customs, with their art, and with the scenic beauties ot France. Social tunctions included a spring out- ing, and a French play at the University. The chiet accomplishments ot le Cercle Francais this year were the securing ot a special black and gold tleur-de-lis pin which RC. F. members could purchase and establishing a French trophy to be awarded to an outstanding French student each year.
