Construction abruptly shattered the calm atmosphere ° at Roosevelt. Cranes, tractors, and working men invaded Pulling together... our land, digging and errupting the soil. Deliveries of bricks, nails, metals, glass—all stored in our cafeteria— made it impossible to use. An area of discomfort and humor also confronted students who desired the use of north-end washrooms. The attention of students was sometimes centered in listening to the droning of drills, the buzzing of saws, and the maddening pounding of hammers. Teachers voices were in competition with the sounds of progress. Nevertheless, the new wing will create an atmosphere of the fast moving world joining the old, and together teachers and students will be in- spired to achieve better insight into the world we live in today.
