The lunior Red Cross is a service organization. Each section is represented by one or more members on the high school council. From this council, members are elected to rep- resent the building on the lunior and Senior Council for the City of East Chicago. Some of the activities of the organization are as follows: sending greeting cards to men in the armed forces who have attended Roosevelt, collecting scrap books for the hospital, collecting Thanksgiving baskets, other valuable donations, and sponsoring an assembly program.

The Girl Counsellors started their year of events with the Little Sister Stana Up in October which was planned by Erma Matuck and Pauline Moore Soon after tl at they began the noon dancinq classes Theresa Breclaw was in charge Next was the Christ mas party for the Little Sisters where aifts were exchanged Marianne Steffes ana Mildrea Sakas made the plans Also at Christmas time the Girl Counselors collected food for bas kets to be sent to the families of the servicemen Patricia Sipple and Eileen l-lefferman were at the head of the committees Cn the first anniversary of Pearl Harbor a serious and effective noon day assembly was planned Then a reqular assembly displayiia school talent was their next proiect. lean Burns and Cecile Hilton took charae. The Girl Counsel' lors have helped teachers and students and all their work has been done outside of school. They, as a aroup deserve Purple Orchids. The officers were: Cecile l-lilton, president: Frances Mulliqan, secretary: and Marilyn Kerr, Program Chairman. Miss Gwen is the faculty sponsor.
