Class History ERE we were bug eughth graders Never thought we would make It This was a bug step In our llves Starr Thompson was our presndent, Jackre Haas was vace president, Barbara Kelley was elected secretary, and Vlrgunla Stokes was treasurer Funally we became freshmen who wandered around with blank looks on our faces Brady Lake and St Pa truck s students loaned us to make up one happy band Sue Nughswander was elected our guldlng llght Kenny Barrett to assist her, Vlvuan Tenney to keep our records, and Jerry Muller to hold our money Barbara Kelley represented our class as freshman attendant to the homecomung queen The hlghllghts of our school year were the Wrnter Whlrl dance held lh the school gym and the class plcmc held at Vlrglnra Kendall Park Manfred Kleser was chosen to represent our class In Student Councll and Barbara Kelley, Esther Mae Bent ley and Kutty Weschler were chosen as three members of the reserve cheering squad Mrs Sara Ward, Mrs Loulse Wunder, Mrs Betty Home, and Mr George And were our understanding advlsors At last as sophomores we were really part of Roosevelt The many clubs offered their gundlng hand to us and we literally flew to loan them Our resldent for thls year was Kenny Barrett, wlth Starr Thompson, vace presrdent, Jackie Haas, secre tary, an Barbara Petrosky, treasurer We held our annual class dance, whlch was called the Cowboy Round p Johnny Wllson and Barbara Petrosky were chosen kung and queen Our class plcnlc was a glorious affarr held at Vlrglnla Kendall Park Sue Palmer represented the sophomore class as attendant to the homecoming queen As money mad lunlors we had the rlvllege of runnrng the concesslon stands at the football and basket ball games and also sold Chrnstmas wreat s Starr Thompson, president, Sue Nlghswander, vace president, Jamce Harkcom, secretary and Nancy Malone, treasurer, led us through our year of money madness Carol Sawyer was homecoming attendant Starr Thompson and Jerry Muller were chosen to represent our class at the annual Girls State and Boys State conferences held durlng the summer Altemates were Sue Nlgh swander and Bull Lovell Sue Nlghswander had the honor of being elected president of Student Councrl which was to start function Ing an our semor year Mark Argantl and Bull Lovell were members of our varslty basketball team whlch had nlneteen strarght vlctorles Several of our boys were mducted unto Hu Y Patty Heller, Jackre Haas, ancl Kltty Weschler were chosen as members of the varslty cheerung squad March came around and fuve gurls out of our class were mducted unto the National Honor Society Nancy Malone, Sue Nrghswander, Sue Palmer, Starr Thompson, and Kltty Weschler The hlghllght at the year was the Junlor Sensor Prom and Banquet The banquet and clance were held at the Lake Forrest Country Club In Hudson The dance was orgamzed and decorated around the theme of Some Enchanted Evening This was surely an enchanted evenlng never to be forgotten After the dance a movle was shown at the Kent Theater Later we cllmaxed the evenlng at the Elks Club wnth a lusclous mndnlght sisupper and danclng Sue Nrghswander and Don Wuant were the leadmg lights ln planmng thus spectacular rom To boost our treasury our class won furst pnze for brmgmg rn the most Sales Tax stamps The year we have been wanting for, our senlor year, funally arrived We were the bug wheels at Roose velt unstead of the spokes Bull Lovell was elected to head our class Hls assistants were Jerry Muller, vuce president Alice Barrett, secretary and Judy Smlth, treasurer Our Sensor Councll consisted of Marretta Scarpnttn, Deanna Hartman, Al Pennock, and Kenny Barrett, plus the offlcers Heading our Rough Rrder staff were Nancy Malone and Jackie Haas, co editors, Vlolet Heldreth, photog raphy editor, Frank Hegedus, lay out edutor, and Kltty Weschler, literary edrtor Mr Paulus was our advls or, Mlss Davls our literary advrsor, and Mlss Walker our sales advusor Judy Smuth was chosen Homecoming Queen wrth Starr Thompson, Sue Nnghswander, and Vlvuan Tenney as her attendants The Senlor Scholarship team took the Senaor Scholarshap Test an January and an March the Honor Society mducted more members of our class Somethlng new was added thus year For the fnrst tame m flve years we had varslty boy cheerleaders be sldes the regular cheerleaders Don Wlant, Al Pennock Garth Phnllnps Jackie Haas, and Kutty Weschler were the semor members of the varsuty squad The year passed quickly wlth the Senlor Guest Dance, the Senlor Class Play, Recognutlon assembly, Baccalaureate, and finally Commencement We marched down the aisle wrth a feeling of sadness but with confidence, eagerly looking forward to fund mg our future places an this marvelous atomic age 30 O . s . . . . . - I l I . . . . ... . . 0 I - .I .. . . .. . . ..
