Things were very conTusing Tor quiTe someTime. New Teachers, new schedules, and especially The new building which seemed To be as big as Tour hoTels. Odd as iT may seem, The rooms had a way oT losing Themselves Trom day To day. We sTruggled on bravely, however, unTil low and behold we were 8Th graders! This enTiTled us To see less oT The caTeTeria and more oT The TirsT Tloor. As we progressed Through our second year oT school aT R. H. S. we could noT help buT noTice The changes in our school and our surroundings due To The war. The mosT noTable change being The wiTh- drawal oT many upperclassmen To serve in our armed Torces. Then in The beauTiTul SepTember oT '43 we Tound ThaT we were 9Th graders??? HORRORS-NO! HFRESHMENH is The TiTle now. All sorTs oT new acTiviTies had To be TiTTed inTo our schedules. Oh yes-NOW we were imporTanT! Now we were no- Ticed! ATTer all, who would The MIGHTY seniors Tower above if There were no Treshmen? AnoTher year passed and we Took our place as sophomores. We added our sTrengTh To sporTs: joined more social and musical clubs and we also gave a play, Three Days oT Gracie, which was a huge success. While we labored on These Things, The Senior Class play, January Thaw was presenTed on May l5Th and l6Th, and Thanks To Miss Walker's un- ceasing eTTorTs, iT was well received by The popula- Tion oT KenT. Then beTore we knew iT, iT was June 5Th, I947, and we were marching down The aisles oT RoosevelT Tor The lasT Time. As we walked The lasT mile and paused Tor a momenT To look back, our ThoughTs were cenTered on The many experi- ences we had had aT RoosevelT. Yes, The school wiTh iTs sober, locker-lined halls, quieT rooms, spacious grounds, newly painTed audiTorium, and A.J.'s library, will always be very dear To us.
