The Virginia Junior College and the Roosevelt High School worked together this year on the all-school play. The presenta- tion was held on December 15, 1959, and was preceded by the Messiah,'' sung by the combined high school and college choir. This Christmas play was adapted from an old Bavarian legend and was presented in the old English version. The plot concerned a king who decided to help a poor man. He found out later that this poor man was his beloved councillor, whom he thought dead. The cast included: Jay Forsman, King Wenceslaus; Anne, his queen, Billie Jean Serson; Councillor of State, John Arko: King's Officer. David Lind: King's Jester, John Bianchi; Master of Cere- monies. Ralph Cuppoletti; Queen's Lady-in-Waiting, Margery Strucel; Jan, a page. Donald Hautala; A Poor Man, Arthur Rued: Sentry. Ronald Vainik: Attendants. Merle Carlson and Elizabeth Welo: Props. Robert Heikkila and James Ranta. Jay, Billia Jean, John. Don, and Marga taka a breather from rehearsal. Ralph. Elizabeth. Art, and Jay look over the banquet table in a scene from King Wenceslaus.
