The eight queen candidates of 1959 are. FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. FRONT ROW: Ginger Neari, Mary Gianlorenzi. SEC- OND ROW: Linda Pepelnjak. Renee King. Peggy Tuominen, Sally Oakman, Sally Hahne, Monika Lindqvist. Pre - Homecoming activity culminated with a Homecoming As- sembly Friday afternoon. October 2. Mary Gianlorenzi. escorted by Jim Young, was chosen the 1959 Football Homecoming Queen. Guest speaker at the assembly was the VHS football coach, Mr. Beste. He commented on the Timberwolves' newfangled formations. After the assembly the traditional Homecoming parade was held. The parade featured floats by the Girls' Clubs, Tri-Hi, G.A.A., Hae- W, and Entre Nous. These floats were judged as they proceeded down Chestnut Street. The Hae-W float won first place. The parade also consisted of the high school band, the high - stepping majorettes and the Girls' Drill Team. The highlight of the parade was Queen Mary and her attendants, Peggy Tuominen, Sally Oakman, and Monika Lindqvist. Undaunted by rainy weather, a record crowd watched the Blue Devils trounce Ely in a decisive 33-19 game. At half-time Queen Mary and her attendants were escorted onto the field by members of the Lettermen's Club. Other half-time activities included showing of the Hae-W float. The majorettes performed and a fine exhibition was given by the Girls' Drill Team. Homecoming activities ended with a dance held at the Miners Memorial Building with the queen and her court as honored guests. Queen Mary waves a royal greeting as her reign begins. 10 Mogi. Sally, and reggy try not to let the rain dampen their spirits. Mary and Ralph find dancing at the homecoming dance rether crowded.
