STAIRWAYS SILENCE CHARACTERIZES the hallway now. Yet, to one who has seen the surge of life and has heard the babble of voices, to one who has been among the group of seven hundred students who have tramped the hallway during five-minute periods, to such a one the corridors are never empty. If only through his imagination, he can still hear the echo of passing footstepsg he can still climb the broad stairway with his friends.
