Physical Education Dorothy Dobie Phy. Ed., Health The building of bodies, as well as minds, is realized as being important at Roosevelt. A two year physical education and health course is required of all students. There is a new class for Junior girls who have completed their required units of physical education. They learn the fundamentals of table tennis, bowling, badminton, golf tennis and modern movements. Boys are able to take advanced physical education also. Industrial Arts Industrial arts gives boys practical experience in working with wood, metal and electronics and enables them to learn about machine drawing, architectural drawing and blueprint reading. There is also a course in stage crafr for students interested in planning, constructing, and erecting stage scenery and lighting. Patricia O'Malley Home Economies Clare Morris Home Economics Gladys Rizncr Home Economics Mrs. Morris assists Rena Pierce and Marbetb Bensboof in perfecting their sewing skills. Home Economics The skills acquired from our homemaking courses have proven to be valuable in home and social life. In the four year course offered to students, instruction is given in sewing, cooking, home management, grooming, child care, family relations and nursing. There were two experimental courses offered to seniors this year. The first semester was for students not planning on going on to college, and is concerned with home management, buying problems, and relationships with other people. The second semester was designed for the college bound student. Discussed were wardrobe plans and problems which might come up in college. Secretaries Who are the busiest people in die school ? Who keeps the school running on an even keel? Ask anybody and the answer will always be, The secretaries. Always smiling, the secretaries are always ready to help administrators, teachers and students alike. They seem to make each school day just a little brighter.
