Freshmen English is combined with the social studies class. Sophomore English includes drama, poetry and short stories while Juniors also study drama, poetry and the American novel. Seniors study World literature or English literature depending on whether or nor they are college bound. John Hatpin finds that consecration and study are the first steps in acquiring good grades.

Combined Classes English and social studies are combined into one class during the Freshmen year. This class lasts for two hours. Team teaching was experimented with in past years and has been quite successful. Team teaching allows each teacher more time to prepare lessons. These lessons are more specialized and provide more variety for students. It is in the combined class that the freshmen arc introduced to the rigors of high school.
