He has been teaching Mathematics at Roosevelt for 35 years, lie has been a coach in baseball, tennis, soccer and has been the advisor for Roosevelt’s Chess Clvib for the past ten years. His kind, understanding nature and friendly encouraging smile will never be forgotten. All those who have known him will remember him as a sincere friend, and an inspiring teacher. Upon his retirement we wish Mr. Larscll many years of health and happiness.

The life balances of the sea and the school arc closely related. The life in the water may be compared with the life in the school; accordingly, their settings also correspond. Consider the students themselves: they are to be compared with schools of fish in the sea, in that there arc opposites and alikes. Both have leaders and followers, working in each little group. The beach is to the ocean as the campus is to the school: vital assets adding to the interest and beauty as well as serving utilitarian purposes. Intangibilities of the two, although not congruent, may be found comparable. The various depths of the ocean arc similar to the depths of the fields of study. Competition is an important part of our system of schooling, academically, socially and athletically. Also in the water world, there is competition, an even more exciting kind—the competition for life. Moods of a student body vary as the moods of the sea. This book is a rocky shore, dashed with memories, a few bitter for some, yet even these mellow into pleasantness with time. For others sweet and happy reminisces lie here. To such memories is this book, representative of the school, dedicated. . i.ll—il
