tibecbca fion Our nation is celebixiling Theodore Roosef vc'lt's Iooth birtliday. liittingly the N239 Nautilus is declitatcd to the students in honor of Theodore Roosevelt. Now you may ask, Why were we chosen- to be honored? The answer to this inquiry is simple. We want you to feel that this is your book, a record of your past year at school. Who else has participated in all school functions and helped to make them all a smashing success? Who got behind the Foreign Exchange Student program, the community charity drives, and joined the numerous clubs and contributed to their growing memberships? All these things have had the support of you as Rough Riders. During the first nine weeks of school, a ceremony commemorating Teddy Roose- velt's 100th anniversary was held. At this ceremony a plaque was presented to the student body and will be placed on the victory flag pole, a gift from the class of 1959. Also during this ceremony Dolpha Dalton and Bill Weil were presented as the best all around students. They were chosen because of their friendliness, cooperation and spirit, the same characteristics for which Theodore Roosevelt is noted. , With these ideals in mind, it is hoped this year's Nautilus will be only an added incentive for you to continue to live in the manner that Theodore Roosevelt set for all men, strong in mind, great in spirit, and accomplishing all that you start in L1 glor- ious finale.
