E25 1 , tic t 1512 1- Rai, ft -33144: 5 W 13 31 ,K we dedicate this book to mr. william r. hurley , 9 , 1 12 iii W' -cf' Ldv - in i PM , 3 lies, F 1-.W J 4. for him, life began in a small mining town, erie, colorado. he knew little of the world around him but was destined to learn much in the years to come. after grade school and high school in greeley, colorado, he went on to the colorado teachers college. these were years of mixed experience, of studies, of sports - basketball and football - and here too he met the girl who was to become his wife and received his a.b. degree. his teaching career began taking him into the northwest. soon he was offered a principalship in arizona. world war I broke out and he, like thousands of others, went overseas to fight for peace in france. for two long years he served before he returned to colorado to teach and to marry the girl he had met in college. after the marriage the couple came west to make their home in fresno where their only son, william, was born. during his years in fresno mr. hurley has risen steadily in his profession, from a teacher at Iongfellow iunior high school, to the dean of men at roosevelt, and to his present position as roosevelt's principal. having attended the university of southern california during the summer months he received his m.a. degree and his administrative credentials. . in the last twenty-three years he has served us well and has helped to build roosevelt into the largest senior high school in the city of fresno. 5 during his administration here east hall, the gymnasium, the new shops, the 'cafeteria and finally Yhe new auditorium have been built. 'it is to this man william r. hurley, that we, 'the associated students ,of the theodlore roosevelt high school, desire to dedicate this nautilus ofthe year l954. mr. hurley's great pride in not only the growth but also the development of the theodore roosevelt high school, and his deep interest in the welfare and the education ofthe students have been reflected in his many years 'of conscientious and unselfish work, a period of service which has helped make roosevelt the outstanding school it is today. gif, .,. -eiiwe mf wfmuw ++m.,,,MV , 'W-aww A N f 15 NEW' ,Q',1?I5p QQ: 11,1 5 , E 3 :X H1 1 5 W , ng 'W W f 1x m ' f, ,. 1,.'v ?,:Nu tw ' 2 ffl? X V' K 11 SU lust think, next year we'll be sen- iors, is becoming a very familiar phrase among us of the class of 1955. for three years, and in a great many cases, five years we have been going to roosevelt and have enioyed every minute of it. in our freshman year we selected fred garcia as our class president and ordered our royal blue class sweaters. last year as sophomores, roger or- chard was our president. it was then we picked out our class rings. this year has been a very busy one under our president phil garfoot. our iunior play, our miss brooks, with linda riley, mel adamske, marilyn evans, and eugene nalbandian was thoroughly enioyed by everyone. the prom we gave for the seniors was a great success and one which will linger on in many memories. it is with mixed emotions that we look forward to our last year at roose- velt and our long awaited graduation. us Y class history 1 he seated: miss reed, mrs. karlie, miss hendricksen, mrs. merrill, miss hanner. second row: mr. darmanian, mr martin mr stanton, mr. blesse, mr. moller, mr. ashley, mr. condit. third row: mr. hudson, mr. miller, mr. rumley. page sponsored by LUFTENBURG'S -- 857 FULTON KARM - 1333 VAN NESS velma mc clung, secre- tary: stan pavolich, vice president 62 paul rothe, class president class sponsors lydia almquist nellie bingham anna bither vivian cortese Iohn oller orean hart george ingham edryce iohnson william krause earnest palfrey richard robinson ethel rudolph mildred scully robert shaver louise sinanides ted snyder sarah strother class of '56 iohn e. iones, head sponsor page sponsored' by CHANNEL BAKERS - 320 O STREET ex V1 .. f W fgif.,3,: -fm, K. 2 ec .
