FOREWORD When the doors of the new building opened on that September morning in l928, a new life was begun. The administration building housed the first students, a group of sophomores. A few years later the bungalows were built to provide extra classrooms. Time changed the appearance of the campus, and with the increasing number of students the East Hall and Gymnasium were necessary. To replace the out-dated cafeteria, a new one was constructed. To provide for mo- dern education, the swimming pool and shops were built. This period of growth and development in Roosevelt history could be compared to a person's life. There were early struggles for recognition as well as goals which were set and accomplished, but not without time and work and effort. Now is presented to you a book that assumes one purpose: To record the highlights and activities of this Sil- ver Anniversary year, 1952-53. Whether this is your first Nautilus, as a freshman, or the final copy in your col- lection, as a senior, read it today, tomorrow and in the years to come. We hope that you will treasure it for its everlasting value. Don Burks Editor-in-Chief T953 Nautilus

l m ,i.. l f L , ,...,NN 1t g 'ii i' 1 7 s DEDICATION This year marks an important milestone in the life of the Theodore Roosevelt High School. This Silver Anni- versary notes 25 years of progress which has been made possible through the team work of administrators, counselors, teachers and students. Numerous achieve- ments have taken place and many of these are record- ed on the pages of this book. Instead of looking back, we wish to look ahead at the future progress of the school. The completion of Roosevelt's new auditorium and the addition of other new facilities will be helpful in serving the increasing number of students who will attend this school. Those of us who have taken a part in Roosevelt's development and progress and are leaving this year join with those who are yet to graduate in dedicating this i953 Nautilus to the future of Theodore Roosevelt High School.
