BUSINESS In a practical way, our business courses deal with the personal use of everyday busi- ness services. They also build a foundation for further study of the business subjects and for work in the business world. In these courses the student is taught the nature of busi- ness and its place in the economic community of which he is a part-to the end that he may be a better citizen. The value of these courses, therefore. lies in the fact that they will help a person in the business of living, working. and succeeding.

Whether that outlet be practical or creative depends upon special talents. To meet the needs of those who have a propensity for the practical arts and crafts such courses as Mechanical Drawing, Wood Shop, Ceramics and I-lomemaking are available here at Roosevelt. For those whose aptitude tends toward the creative. there are music and creative art courses. Few of us realize the debt of gratitude we owe to those teachers who make these courses practical as well as inspirational.

I-IEALTI-l , L. to R.: Mrs. Donoghue, Dr. MacCutdy, Mrs. Mark, Mrs. Reagan, Mrs. Joslin, Mr. Stark, Mr. Seidell, Mrs. Burns. What our future will be, individually or as a nation, depends in large part on our health. Certainly the national safety depends on the daily energy we bring to our work At Roosevelt great emphasis is placed upon this important factor, which is evidenced in many ways. In our health classes we are taught that good health results not from just reading about it in a textbook but from daily practice of good health habits. Under the supervision of our expert dieticians balanced meals are available to us. Through the patient efforts of our gym teachers, we are taught the skills necessary to develop a strong and healthy body. All of these things combined make our lives at Roosevelt healthier and happier.
