Science at Roosevelt has been for all of us the entrance into a world bordering on the fantastic, yet an integral part of our daily lives. Particularly today, when the importance of scientific progress cannot be overemphasized it is fortunate that an inquiring mind can meet science teachers well qualified to direct our mental probing into these unknown regions. There are no boundaries imposed on scienceg today the world presents to youth the challenge of extending the horizons of scientific thought and the creation of new fields of study, the first steps to which may be taken at Roosevelt. MATHEMATICS Mathematics is the vital tool with which we enrich our minds with teachings and logic designed to strengthen our thought processes. Mathematics teaches the lesson of criti- cal analysis by which we can observe and draw thoughtful conclusions. Here at Roosevelt, we are guided through the great maze of mathematical ideas by competent and understanding instructors. Because of their patient efforts, we have devel- oped skills that are useful not only in mathematics but rather in all facets of life. LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT In todays world the role of the language teacher assumes great importance for he holds the key to international communication and unity. In all phases of life, languages play an immensely important part. In this world brought so closely together through scientific progress, knowledge of languages and the ability to communicate successfully with others is vital. Through their conscientious efforts and benehcent guidance the language teachers at Roosevelt instill, as well, the desir for continued work in all fields of learning. Through knowle ge of for ' languages, we shall be able to better understand the various great cultures the 0 , and in so doing create understanding among men.
