One of Emerson's great essays is on Self eliance. ln this essay he states, nothing can ring you peace but yourself. - Your education'thus far has offered you little pportunity to apply this principle because the ubiects which you have studied and the ourses which you have followed have been etermined largely by your parents and teach- rs. This is as it should be, but the time now pproaches when you must make many de- isions for yourself. ln other words you must ecome more self reliant. If you would be happy and successful in your ocation choose a field in which you are per- nally interested, one in which work becomes pleasure to you instead of a task. It must e a field in which you can reflect your own ersonality and in which you can grow as an dividual. When one is happy in his daily work nd it brings personal satisfaction, one can uly be at peace with himself and the world. 'LW' L'Envoi, traditionally has been an outstand ing Yearbook. This year's edition is no excep tion. It reflects great credit on the class of 1954 the staff, and our very talented and conscien tious faculty sponsors: Dr. Kaufmann, Mrs Steiner and Mrs. Moeller. To all these fine peo ple we extend our sincere thanks and congrat- ulations for a job well done! -5 , By following these ideals, we, the class of 1954, can feel better equipped to walk the road of life.
