Aerial-bound scoring leader Freddie Berengue breaks through University High's defense for a soaring lay-up. um SV'BASKETBALL Disappointments and defeats beset Coach Stanley Chung's senior varsity basketball team throughout a frustrating campaign. Fin- ishing in a four-way tie for tenth place with 2 wins and l0 losses, the inexperienced squad was marked by nine underclassmen and only three returning lettermen, Following two ini- tial setbacks by Kamehameha and Kaimuki, the Rider five eked out a 30-26 overtime vic- tory over a determined Mid-Pacific team. Rebounding after three consecutive losses to Maryknoll, lolani, and Punahou, the cagers responded with an overwhelming victory over University High. After losing to three-year champion St. Louis, the courtmen were upset by Damien in a game played under protest. Three decisive defeats concluded the season. Rallying from the defeats, the Babes swamped McKinley, 34-10, and held Iolani to a 12-12 deadlock.
