.. '79 'QW DONALD WONG Editor-in-Chief EDEAN YAP Art Editor NANCY KIYAMA Business Manager LUCILLE CHING Assistant Editor ROUND UP Under the careful supervision of Donald l'Vong', editor-in-chief, and Mrs. Evelyn Lee, adviser, the determined Round Up staff pro- duced the 1962 edition of Roosevelt's cherished yearbook, a consistent first-place award winner. Meetings were conducted during the sum- mer to select a theme and a color scheme that would attract and please all. Puzzled juniors, as well as experienced seniors, became familiar with the fundamentals of annual production through weeks of lectures. Thereafter, the junior understudies observed as their senior editors presented detailed information cover- ing the procedures of their individual sections. The staff soon realized that an outstanding yearbook requires months of concentrated, per- petual labor. Layouts were carefully drawn in order to create the most appealing spreads. Various pictures were scheduled, taken, iden- tified, cropped and pasted. Identifications, captions, and body copy were written and typed. Through the close relationship afforded by the pressing work, understanding and a warm friendship developed among the staff. The climax of the year was Round Up's annual banquet held in May, when the com- pleted yearbook was viewed for the first time and merit awards and certificates were dis- tributed to staff members and photographers.

CN THE COVER Our world is perpetually developing and progressing. However, the focal point of the world is the individual who also grows physi- cally and mentally with the element of time. The ascending line represents the individual in his interminable search for knowledge. The perfect sphere denotes an important phase of this evolution, the culmination of student achievement at Roosevelt. In the rays sur- rounding the globe is manifested the diver- sity of campus life-the physical, scholastic, and social facets that comprise each student's pro- gram. The three spirals radiating from the sphere represent the sophomore, junior, and senior years. With- each we broaden our hori- zons, grow in perspective, and increase in im- portance to the community, the nation, and the world. The points of the compass guide young men and women to unlimited opportuni- tics. Extending into the back cover is the quad- rilateral representing the scope of human ac- complishment. Unbounded, both are infinite.
