Supported by an ardent staff, they worked diligently, week after week, one story after another. They were continuously looking for new ideas. Often as one passed the room, noisy with the incessant clattering of typewriters, he would be filled with an anxiety to peek over the shoulders of the typist to see what he was mischievously chuckling about. Squeals of delight and hushed laughter ushered forth from the homerooms every Friday, as students and teachers alike were deeply engrossed in a Rough Rider. The cub reporters were sent hither and thither to interview various important persons. The experiences gained through these errands, and also through rush- ing to meet deadlines and writing interesting stories, gave them a journalistic training that made this activity well worth while.
