Led by Council officers Jim Nass, Craig Ballard, and Barb Henderson, the Council sponsored an all-school magazine sale that netted $4,600. With this money, it purchased such items as new lights for the publications office and pom-poms for the cheerleaders. The Council also took charge of the Homecoming festivities, revised Students Elected The Roosevelt chapter of the National Honor Society, sponsored by Miss Virginia Cooper, initiated six members of the class of ’61 at the formal ceremony held at the Honors As- sembly in June 1960. The Roosevelt Council played a major part in the Washtenaw Conference Student Council, improving relations between schools in the county. Each spring many Roosevelt students take part in the forensic contests.
