class OFFICERS Vice President Secretary Treasurer President John Falk Nancy Foy Jenny Ortkiese Roy Buck class history This is only the beginning we assured ourselves as we took our places as Roosevelt freshmen in 1952. We promised ourselves that we would do more in the next four years than we had dreamed of in the previous eight school years. We kept our promise, As freshmen in ’52 we first met our first sponsors Miss Virginia Cooper, Mrs. Florence Crouch, and Mrs, Ruth Shelkum, who in turn introduced us to our first dime dances, senior high fun nites, and the highlight of the year, our first high school dance the Spring Party. In 1953, we got the works at the Sophomore Reception and took our turn at sponsoring the annual Christmas Party, which we dubbed the Sn owflake Swirl. In the fall of our junior year, we welcomed the class of 757 at the annual Sophomore Reception. The thespians among us took to the stage for the Play Festival. The class picnic at Edgewater Park concluded our last year as under- classmen, Then came the busiest year of them all. We began by guarding The Stairs. Then came Homecoming, fads, plays, parties galore, at last - the trip, the Prom, and finally, Graduation! Suddenly it was over. We were alumni. And in the midst of joyful-tearful farewells and the promises of reunion, the feeling of relief that it was all over gradually became regret, and the finality of our leaving was softened somewhat by the realization that once again, this was just the beginning. The Volume of Life lay before us. We had just turned the first page.
