Mr. DeBoer’s cheerful manner has been encourag- ing as throughout our many projects. We shall always remember him for his patience and willing- ness to help. With this theme in mind, we have expressed our patterns of life in the past, present, and future. Looking into the past of our 42 seniors, ten have attended Roosevelt since kindergarten. Our class has contributed its share of achievements in scholastic and athletic activities. Our social life will be hard to top and being a small class we've all become good friends. Our boys became eligible in our freshman year for various sports, and we sponsored numerous fun nights. Our sophomore year will be remembered by our informal initiation at the Sophomore Re- ception. As juniors we planned the catchy stunts for our underclassmen’s initiation and sponsored the Jr.-Sr. Prom. The present finds us looking to the past and the future. Now that we have experienced the glories of being seniors; graduation is the next doorway we pass through. Our future is before us. GLENN F. Scouting at Roosevelt is open to any student who can meet the basic requirements and will try to maintain the scout standards. Much time in every troop is spent on outdoor activities, badge requirements, and service projects. The Intermediate Girl Scouts entertained patients at the State Hospital at Christmas time and visited the Clinton Woolen Mills. The Boy Scouts helped usher at football games in Ann Arbor. During Christmas vacation they had a successful Winter Camporee and planned a camping trip at Bruin Lake during Spring vacations The Senior Girl Scout Club adopted a family for Christmas time and provided them with food, clothes, and gifts. The second semester all of their efforts were directed toward a camping trip in June in Muskegon State Park. Art Woodhouse, Captain Dick Hilmoe, Art Walker For this year’s grid squad Coach Art Walker found himself surrounded with 70 candidates, the most ever to turn out for the fall sport at Roosevelt, Coach Walker and his No. 1 assist- ant Art Woodhouse turned out an ex- tremely young team, with only seven seniors seeing action. Captain Dick Hilmoe, a guard, George Wallace, a half-back, Jim Hatch a center and line backer, LeRoy Kirtley, Glenn Aldrich, and Gary Salyer, tackles, and Tom Brown, a quarterback. In spite of the 1-5-1 record this year’s team seemed to work extremely well under pressure. The winning and only touch down of the Milan game was scored in the last quarter, and at Saline, after trailing all the way by a score of 6-0, the Rough Riders came back to climax an 80 yard drive by scoring the tying touchdown with only two seconds remaining.
