Gils Athletic Asscciation The Girls' Athletic Association has followed the point system which was introduced last year. Under this system, a girl has to earn a certain num- ber of points to become a member. The girl starts earning points whenever she wishes, usually starting in the freshman year ani vecoming a full-fledge member in the sophomore year. Many sports were offered this year, and the members also sponsored many activities, such as, dime dances, fun nites, and a dinner honoring boys who participated in sports. This year has been a good one, andi there is every indication that next year will be even better. «. iditoriaily Speaking « punt Your Blessings j Thanksgiv - ; many Ameri vember J Jecause nd te Dow m She Li aN y're aN papa: | With Jan’ Ne . Student Council On behalf of the Roosevelt Student Council, I wish to congratulate all those who attended meetings, helped to represent and determine opinions, for they have done a fine job in improving our school. Through this 1951-1952 sea- son, the Council has enjoyed one of its most successful years, thanks to the cooperation of the whole student body. Ton Kidd, President This year's Student Council has sponsored numerous activities, which have helped to increase student participation in school projects. Included among these projects were fun nites, dime dances, the magazine sale, Hane- coming program, and a sponge week party. The Council members plus the ex- officio committee chairmen have all contributed their time and work to im- prove our school. is ‘ =, = of z ¥ iz Mh 'v Ke | ' y : one's har Cs y fe pa —s ce eg ‘2 ay a B = Top Row: David Rendel, Doris Rendel, Nancy Obenauf, Doreen Bleasdale, Car- olyn Hartjs, Bill Clixby, Gary Kellogg, John Allen, Virginia Neilly, Jane Smithe Middle Row: Carolyn Patterson, Don Taylor, Barbara Brien, Margie Hadley, Joan Geisendorfer, Joan Hartman, Frank Lotz, Ton Schill, Frank Paduan, Loyd Cochran, Sonia Janich, Mary Hood, Mary Davey. Yells resound through the halls, as some scared underclassmen is waylaid by a senior. A fate worse than this couldn't have befallen anyone. He has been caught on THE STAIRS----. The penalty for trespassing here is well known throughout Roosevelt. A summons is served in Assembly followed by a session of the Court of Common Appeals, Here the defendant may bring his council and plead his case. After the jury has passed the guilty verdict, the sentence is given by the judge. A sentence which is also well known to all. Small brushes, normally called tooth-brushes, are handed to the culprits. As the eyes of the school focus on the victim, he or she scrubs the whole stair case or rolls a tiny piece of chalk over a length of carpet, spread along the upper hall! BEWARE YOU UNDERCLASSMEN !!
