ohn Brand, v ce-F resident; sent = Caldwell, Sect etar y- t; J preside . Batalucc?, “ an Fiatt, treasur history We began our high school days way back in 1947 as a class of seventy ambitious freshmen. Although we still had many social restrictions, we were delighted at being allowed to go to fun nites and dime dances. My, how important we felt though, when at the spring party, our first school dance, we made our debut into Roosevelt society As we took our place inhighschool life, we even succeeded in getting our candidate for student council vice-president, Don Potter, elected. As sophomores, we were put through our paces by the class of ’50 at the Sophomore Reception. It was that year that we put on our first big party the “Winter Whirl” and in the spring we threw the ‘Cotton Ball”. On the day of our class picnic, we all hopped aboard a bus boundfor Walled Lake where we spent the afternoon at the amusement park. We started off 1949 by initiating the class of'’52 as they carried out our orders at the Sophomore Reception. In March we tried our hand at play production. Later, in June, we tackled the job of sponsoring the Junior-Senior Prom. As juniors we achieved ultimate success in the student council campaign by the election of Don Potter to the post of president. Again that year, class picnic dayfound us enjoying ourselves at Walled Lake. Class officers Harold Batalucco-president, John Brand-vice-president, Christine Flatt-treasurer, and Edna Caldwell-secretary, led our group through that all-important senior year. Sporting our fads--green sweat shirts and white caps-we carefully protected our rights to the senior stairs. This year we once again tested our dramatic abil- ity in the spring plays. Early in June came the big event of our senior days--the senior trip. We journeyed by boat to Lake Superior, stopping on the return at Mackinac Island. Our hearts were in our throats at the honors assembly as we solemnly relinquished our seats to the up-coming seniors, and watched them take over our places. Finally on June 15, fifty-five of us marched up on to the stage to receive our diplomas, thereby taking our places among the loyal Roosevelt alumni.
