HRISTMAS PROGRAM O Come All Ye Faithtur'---the strains of this ageless hymn float through Staggs gym as the students from grades one through twelve march in to tell in song and Scripture the old, but ever new, Christmas story. An annual event, the program always draws a capacity crowd. Added to the songs and Scriptures are the living pictures which depict the special events of that day and night. awmvxfsms,QiQ :

kwa f, ps, 'V .Q 3' mx SPRI G CDNCERT An outstanding student program is the Spring Concert presented by the chorus and band. Last year the concert contained two added features--colorful backdrop pictures presented by the Art Department under the direction of Charles Havey and a popular guest conductor, Coach Iolm Bastin. The chorus, of one hundred voices, entered the darkened auditorium to the strains of the traditional 'Halls of 1vy, As the auditorium was again lighted the chorus sang O What A Beautiful Morning. After the second num- ber offered by the girls, Peop1e Will Say We 're In Love the spotlight played on a canvas simulation of a surrey and a couple, while the boy's chorus sang Surrey With The Fringe On Top. Another huge painting served as the backdrop for the finale-- Oklahoma. 'l'he second half of the concert was given by the band. Pavanne opened their portion of the program with Tom Mohler as trumpet soloist and Kay Piatt as clarinet soloist. Spotlight On The Piano with band accom- paniment featured Sandy Dyer at the keyboard. After the number, Big Joe The Tuba, which exhibited the skills of the sousaphone section, John Bastin stepped forward to conduct very ably the novelty number Lassus Trombone. The group brought the SpringConcerr, which is wholly under the expert direction of Mr. Perdue Powlen, to a close with the stirring march Colosus ot Co- 1umbia. 61 if
