Exercise Changes Pace of Academic Schedules In keeping with the state re- quirement for physical education, all students are obligated to at- tend gym or swimming classes at least once a week. Instruction in various sports is provided, as well as a welcome release from the regular classroom situation. Roosevelt ' s female half puts forth concentrated effort in such activities as trampoline stunts and volleyball. Some choose to take lifesaving. Basketball and wrestling con- stitute two activities popular with the boys. Proper development as well as coordination are stressed. Combining quantity and quality has re- sulted in the formation of the new blue and white bands. The budding virtuosos in the bands and orchestras have developed a musical background ranging from classical to contemporary. All wanted to achieve perfection and feeling in their work as they strove to act like professionals. Old tunes and show tunes were sung by music groups, and they achieved a unity and control of voices. Aspiring young actors, actresses, and orators have learned the fundamentals of speech and drama. The students received instruction in subjects ranging from drama history to formal debate. They learned and entertained with their skills. Art majors, using clay, pencil, pastels, and talent, expressed themselves creatively in a variety of imaginative projects. All right! I ' m the director here and 1 said ' Attention!
