Science Students Try Hand At Experiments Which Prove Old Truths, Develop New Ones Delving into what is now known and what is to be known in the future, science students studied biology, physics, and chemistry. They learned the principles and reasoning of science through experimentation and evalua- tion. Rubberbands, tickertape, and sand- bags helped physics students deter- mine the rate of acceleration of falling mass. Biologists utilized more con- ventional processes — viewing movies and conducting laboratory work to verify what they had seen. Correct and incorrect actions and reactions were obtained by eager chemists in their attempts to find out about heat and equilibrium. Many young scientists worked hard on special projects and participated in science fairs and exhibits. Students found their new knowledge useful in practical, everyday situations.
