Both Dr. Charles Rowley and his job are new to Roosevelt this year. As as- sistant principal, he aids Mr. Battrick in his work, and Dr. Rowley ' s door is always open to faculty and students. He also visits classrooms in order to offer sug- gestions for better teaching. Charles Rowley Don Blackman New to Roosevelt this year, Don Black- man has gained many friends among both faculty and students. He aids boys in solving personal and disciplinary ' prob- lems, as well as sponsoring the activities of the Boys ' Club. Mr. Blackman is a familiar sight at all Roosevelt events, and Roosevelt is glad to add him to its family. 11

Delmer Battrick Seated next to Student Council President Art Wittmack, Mr. Hattrick azes over the eleventh and last student body he has administered to as principal of Roosevelt High School. As Roosevelt ' s principal from 1954 to 1965, Mr. Battrick has demonstrated professional leadership and integrity. He has won a place for himself and his ideals in the community, and has always and first maintained for the students of his school the goal of better education. Despite his very busy work day, Mr. liaiUicK maintains an open door policy with both faculty and students, and has never been too busy to offer suKKestions or a sympathetic understanding or resourceful assistance in times of difficulty. Roosevelt has maintained a superior academic program, and has a well-rounded program in extra-curricular activities, marked by frequent city and state athletic championships in all events, including the 1965 Boys State Basketball Championship. Dramatics, music, journalism, and other extra-curricular activities have been outstanding. Mr. Battrick has enthusiastically led and endorsed student government, and Roose- velt student council members are also leaders in the All-Citv Student Council, initiated by Roose- velt. In recognition of his outstanding activities, Mr. Battrick was chosen as one of the five out- standing Secondary Principals of the Year in the nation in 1964. 10

The job of girls advisor is a hard one to fill, es{)ecially in a large school, yet Roosevelt girls agree that Mrs. Cross has done a fine job in her tv o years at Roose- velt. In addition to helping girls with their varied problems, Mrs. Cross ar- ranges the schedule for visits of college representatives and furnishes scholar- ship information. The many activities of the Girls ' Club are under her sponsorship. Velma Cross Adults Direc Board of Education Arthur Davis; Richard Lozier; John K.
