A special panel was held at a PTA meeting to explain the aims and functions of the coun- cil, and the tutoring -ystem was revived. Roosevelt was represented at it . district, and state student council meetings. Social Night, featuring games, water polo, and a movie, climaxed the spring semester. A compli te revision of the Student Coun- cil constitution was made by a special committee under the leadership of Jim l- ' reeland and Parliamentarian Julie John-oii. Major revisions weir made in the Coun- cil ' s election and committee s tem . The new constitu- tion vvas ratified b the students and went into effect at the beginning of the second semester. Liz Dunn, IVte Tavlor. Craig Aronou. Writing, typing and deadlines; copyreading, proofread- ing, and deadline ; pasting, editing, ami deadline- meant the Roosevelt Roundup was heing puhlished. I ndcr the direction of Donald Haley, instructor and sponsor, Jour- nalism II students puhlished Roosevelt ?. six-page paper that included editorials, cartoons, news stories, feature -torie-, and columns. The Roosevelt Ritundup serves a a mirror of the student body : it gives coverage to event- past, interpret- current -indent affair-, and tell- of things to come. The 13 seniors who put out the bi-weekly paper published a special eight-page edition which was given to parent at the fall Open House. The staff concluded their semester ' s work with a 16-page Roundup honoring the mid-year graduating class. The editor of the fall staff was Jane Bartley. The staff included Linda Carpen- ter, managing editor; Dave Meyer-, business manager; ■ad ur Fanner, u»- Shirley, Connie lerguson, Mike kell . IVte Tavlor. and Jeri I ' omerantz. page editors.
