SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS Under the diligent supervision of Dr. John H. Harris, Des Moines schools have remained dynamic. Through his coordina- tion of the policies of the Des Moines School Board with the school system, and by introducing contemporary concepts of education, the many schools incorporated throughout the city have continued to produce citizens prepared for life ' s chal- lenges. Included within the Des Moines district are over forty thousand students whose learning experience is adjusted and administered to by the many officials associated with the superintendent ' s office. Recent alterations to the curriculum include a noteworthy addition to the history department, re- quiring students to participate in history courses throughout their high school career; this is an example of the increasing scholasl-ic demands which are recognized by Des Moines ' capable school administrators.
