NURSE Directing the school ' s medical program is a demanding task. Mrs. Bridget Sweet is ready to do anything she can to aid (and Band-Aid) Roosevelt students in maintaining health. Her responsible position includes keepin g records of all students, directing physical examinations, admitting absentees, and, of course, helping students who need medical care. SCHOOL BOARD James W. JOHN H. HARRIS Superintendent of Schools • Planning and coordinating the affairs of a rapidly growing school system comprised of over seventy schools is the very difficult task of Dr. John H. Harris, Des Moines ' Superintendent of Schools. It is his responsibility to see that the school system carries out the policies established by the School Board, and that all units of the system function smoothly and effectively. These problems are complicated by the adoption of new programs and methods, such as the advent of television as an instruction medium.
