MR. DELMER H. BATTRICK Principal The phone rings in his office, and once again Principal Delmer H. Battrick speaks for Roosevelt High. The School Board office downtown, Dr. Harris, an inquiring employer, an anxious motherAto each and all he answers with the harmonious dignity of an effectual high school administrator. Negotiating with Dr. Harris and the School Board, supplying employers with information on post-graduates, and lending an ear to parents is but a small part, of Mr. Battrick's busy day as administrative head of this large high school. Conferences with students and fellow educators, letter writing, assembly speaking, social teas, coffees, luncheons, awards dinners, and P.T.A. meetings, public-relations counseling., and scores of less impressive tasks keep Mr. Battrick more than busy as he guides the destiny of TRHS with a skillful hand. He has been executive chief of Roosevelt since his appointment as principal four years ago, when he returned after a twelve year absence. He had served here as vice-principal from 1935 to 1942 under the administrations of J. E. Stonecipher and C. 0. Hoyt. It is difficult to capture in a picture or even in words the way a man appears to his students. But from note-laden desk to assembly podium his dimpled and ready smile, snowy hair, brisk walk and impeccable taste in clothes make Delmer H. Battrick, in our opinion, the quintessence of the high school principal. 14
