For many years Roose- velt has figured as a major sports power in the state. VYe have had championship teams in every lield, but one: and many records have fallen before our perform- ers. At TRHS we believe spirited ath- letic competition to be invaluable to physical and mental growth. Roosevelt boys sweat away many hours on the playing Held: but consequently they are better young men. Sports provide a uni- tied spirit for participants and sideliners alike. All strive for the ultimate ecstasy of victory. YVc at TRHS support our teams with a lung-sprung Fight team, tight for Roosevelt. and a fervent desire of a game well-won. social . . . paid assemblies . . . openhouses . . . dancing in the gyms . . . Going to school is not entirely a textbook, homework propo- sition. Many of the aspects of man's re- lationship to man are not learned in the classroom, but rather in the casual get- togethers of students outside the formal learning situation. Appreciation of in- tellect is cultivated in the classroom, ap- preciation of personality in the informal contacts provided by the social side of life. XVe at TRHS enjoy many planned social activities, along with entertain- ments a11d occupations of our own device. The atmosphere of a school is only as pleasant as the contentment of the stu- dents who go there. YVe at Roosevelt can study well, but we can also laugh: and when we do, it is a hearty laugh.
