HASTY Principal of Roosevelt High School 1941-1954 With all sincerity, devotion and respect to a great man, this 1955 Roosevelt Annual is dedicated to Mr. Emmett I. Hasty, principal of Roosevelt from 1941 to 1954. Those who knew Mr. Hasty will remember him always as the principal who gave himself to the plans and problems of his students. If anyone ever had a special problem, he knew Mr. Hasty would be glad to listen and talk it over with him. He was concerned not only with classroom work and recreational facilities of the students, but with their individual plans and problems. Mr. Hasty was interested in all the activities of the school. He seldom missed P. T. A. meetings, athletic games, concerts, plays or dinners which were his students' concern. The students could always rely on Mr. Hasty for a word of encouragement or praise when they needed it most. His strong character and pleasing personality made everyone feel at ease when talking with him. To Mr. Hasty, the chief business of the school was in the field of ideals and moral values, of character building, of personality development, and building good citizens for the community and the world. To the establishment of these principles Mr. Hasty was dedicated: in this end he suc- ceeded. Roosevelt was indeed fortunate to have this fine man lead the school for thirteen years. No principal ever served more faithfully than 1VIr. Hasty: he gave himself completely and unreservedly to his task: he was here to help. 2 'H 0 . i I
