S.E5aEEEE,EPEEEEEEETHE1945ROUNDUP Z-7m Une cm fm Dear Father in Heaven, I kneel tonight To say a prayer sincere. For one whose duty has called him far From home and all held dear. He's very young, he's never been So far away before. So I ask you now. with all my heart, To kindly watch that shore On which he fights his lonely fight, On which he does his part. He may not think to ask you, God, He may not dare to ask That you would share his lonely watch: That you would bless his task. But this I do because I know That e'en that, sparrow's tall Is seen by you, whose loving care Watches over all. His letters say forgive mistakes And this I pray you'll do. He didn't mean to make them, Lord. His way of life was new. When he was called at just eighteen He hadn't found the way. But I am sure, within his heart. His course was set and true. So Father, watch this lad tonight. Oh Father. watch them all! Our only hope is in our faith That if they hear Death's call You'll take them home and keep them safe As we would like to do: For well we know within thy care You hold boys good and true. -Mary Higgins Page Nine
