Don Koza V. President. . . . Nick Hadyniak Secretary . . . . Avalee Barnett Treasurer . . . Carroll Hoppe As freshmen they were the largest class in school. Under the direction of Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Ratcliffe they made R.H.S. history. For the first time, freshmen got class sweaters. Red and gray was the choice they made. After this freshmen class got sweaters in their first year, every other freshmen class followed in their steps. Another first was the 'Bunny Hopn which was held March 28, l9h7. A sure hit was the floor show featuring freshmen talent. Sophomores President . . . . . Nick Hadyniak V. President. . . . Don Kratt Secretary . . . . Pat McCroskrie Treasurer . . . Ann McCroskrie As sophomores, they started off with the election of Nick Hadyniak as president. During basketball and football season they sponsored a number of record dances with donation admittion which were given after games. The main event of the year was the selection of class rings in March. They were to receive them the following fall. The boys and girls organized basketball teams to play different classes during noon hour. Juniors President . . . . Don Koza V. President. . . . Bob Hickey Secretary . . . . Janice Miank Treasurer . . . . Dorothy Zakolski The first thing that was of importance was receiving their class rings. Everyone was well satisfied. The traditional J. Hop was put on November 6, l9L8. The dance was very successful with an Oriental theme and the music of Alexander's Orchestra. To boost athletic pins ball seasons, record dances On April their treasury the class sold magazine subscriptions, to the student body during the football and basket- sold programs at games, and sponsored two after game They also tinted some pictures for the student body 8-9 the junior class presented their play, 'Eager Beaversn, a very successful comedy. Seniors President . . . . . Fred Greca V. President. . . - Charles Russell Secretary . . . . Mary Ann Ellis Treasurer . . . . Margie Anderson With big jobs ahead of them, the seniors started out by electing four very good officers. Fred Greca was chosen for president. f The main thing that most senior classes wait for is getting their senior pictures taken. In October, Powells Studio came to take them. They received the proofs in about two weeks and then received the pictures two weeks before Christmas. Everyone was well pleased. The next thing which was very important was the senior trip. The vote was between New York and Washington but Washington won. Only 37 seniors went on the senior trip. Mr. Streat and Mrs. and Mr. Loughlin chaperoned the trip because our advisors, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Hansbrough, could not go. One of the biggest money making projects in the senior year was the senior play, WOne Mad Night', under the direction of Mr. Streat. It was presented on December 9-lO and was a great success and helped very much to boost the treasury. The seniors also sold magazine subscriptions, refreshments at basketball games, christmas cards, and wrapping paper which also helped the treasury The class voted on the kind of commencement cards they wanted Name cards, along with the commencement cards, were received in April. The senior prom which was held in the gym on May 13, was a great success. It was decorated in a Blossom Time theme. Music was furnished by Jimmy Brown and his Ensemble. The seniors were measured for their caps and gowns which they received one week before graduation. They voted on maroon colored ones. Baccalaureate was held June A, in the gym and graduation June 7. The seniors left on their trip June 9 for Pittsburg, Penn.,- Washington D. C., Reading, Penn., Buffalo, New York, and Niagra Falls. They were gone for one week. FOOTBALL The Romulus Eagles, Under the coaching of H. Cass, D. Streat, and Captain Nick Hadyniak, had a very successful season in h9. The Eagles played a total of eight games, coming out victorious in all of them. Being in a class 'B' league this year didn't seem to bother the bother the Eagles at all, even though the competition was much tougher than last year's Competition. The eagles went in fighting and fought all the way through. Charles Lau, a Junior, who has been out for football three years, was voted most valuable man on the team. As a reward for their successful season, the Eagles were enter- tained at two banquets! one was given by the Fomulus Rotary Club, and the other by the Cheerleaders. Using part of the 3250. made at the Adrian game, the team celebrated at the Colonial House. The reserves, under the coaching of G. Nault and G. Loughlin, played a total of lf games, winning 2 and tying 2. BASEBALL The baseball season was very successful in that Romulus went Und6f88SBd. The captain elect for last year was Jack Thorpe, who did a very capable job in leadership. The top man in batting averages was Nick Hadyniak with an average of over 500. Next came Buster Lau with an average of over 450. The Romulus Eagles won the championship in 1949 but was forced to forfeit it because one of the Romulus players broke the league rules by playing with another independent league, although I think the school undoubtly regards 15 as an unde feated SSHSDH.
